The state government has implemented an online application system for the allocation of antifungal drugs – Liposomal Amphotericin B, Posaconazole, and Isavuconazole. The request for the medication should be sent in a prescribed form to ‘[email protected]’.
“Applications will be reviewed by a committee made up of the director of medical education, the superintendent of the ENT hospital and the head of the ENT department at Gandhi Medical College,” according to the press briefing.
The committee’s recommendation will be communicated to the approved applicant by e-mail or text message, indicating the name of the reseller from whom the drug can be purchased.
The application asks for the contact details of the patient, the hospital offering the treatment and the attending physician. In addition, the application contains tables where the details of the history of the patient with mucormycosis, the list of documents to be attached to the application and the drug request in order of preference must be completed.
The demand for drugs increased after the cases of black yeast infection (mucormycosis) started to increase. The online application system was set up to make judicious use of the available stock of drugs.
